Western Sahara, a territory on the northwestern coast of Africa. Formerly a province of Spain under the name Spanish Sahara, it was divided between Mauritania and Morocco between 1976 and 1979, and subsequently administered as four provinces of Morocco. The region has been known as Western Sahara since 1976. A local guerrilla group, the Polisario Front, has disputed Morocco's claim to the region. The territory has an area of 102,703 square miles (266,001 sq km). The land slopes gradually upward from the Atlantic coast and reaches about 2,700 feet (820 meters) high in the northeast. Rainfall, except along the coast, is negligible. Western Sahara The bulk of the population and the area's mineral resources and coastal fisheries lie behind a Moroccan-built fortified wall. The 2004 Moroccan census listed the population living in the area controlled by Morocco as 417,000, but estimates of the traditional nomadic Saharwi population vary widely. Drought has led to widespread emptying of the area outside the wall, with many Saharwi relocating behind the wall or living in refugee camps in southwestern Algeria. The principal religion is Islam, and the main language is Arabic. Besides the modern city of El Aai�n (Laayoune), the former provincial capital built by the Spanish, the prominent towns are Smara (Essemara) and the port of Dakhla (formerly, Villa Cisneros). Fishing and livestock raising are the basis of the local economy. The dry, sandy soil allows little agriculture. Extensive phosphate deposits were found south of El Aai�n in 1963; the region became a major phosphate exporter. Iron deposits have not been exploited, but exploration for offshore oil is being conducted by Moroccan energy interests. Moroccan investment and settlement have sparked tourism and general economic growth in the area behind the wall and fueled what pro-independence Saharwis fear might ultimately be its de facto integration into Morocco. Airports serve both El Aai�n and Dakhla. Spaniards from the Canary Islands maintained a fort in the region from 1476 to 1524, but Spain paid little attention to the area until the 19th century. In 1884 Spain proclaimed a protectorate over the coastal strip extending from Cape Bojador to Cape Blanc. Further penetration inland was hindered by French claims in Mauritania, but agreements in 1900 and 1912 established the eastern extent of Spanish control. Spanish Sahara was constituted as a province in 1958. In November 1975 Spain agreed to cede the province. As Spanish troops moved out of the territory, Moroccan troops moved in. On Feb. 26, 1976, Morocco and Mauritania took control, and on April 14, in Rabat, the two countries agreed on a division of the territory, about two-thirds of it going to Morocco. Meanwhile, an independence movement, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Saguia el Hamra and Rio de Oro (Polisario), led by Sayid el Quali and supported by Algeria, proclaimed an independent Sahrawi (Saharan) Arab Democratic Republic with an eight-person government headed by Mohamed Lamine Ahmed. The rebel government was quickly recognized by Algeria. When Mauritania renounced its claim to the southern portion of the territory, in August 1979, Morocco occupied the area and annexed it. Sporadic guerrilla activity by Polisario continued until a United Nations�monitored cease-fire went into effect on Sept. 6, 1991. A referendum on the territory's future, provided for in the cease-fire agreement, was postponed indefinitely by Morocco.

Today at work I had to deal with EZN. I have to keep working on the LTH and cannot start with EZN tomorrow.

Fullfillment is very unnecessary

Like a veil being lifted but it won't change the way I feel. I'm ugly because Eleanor was upset, Eleanor behaved not very gently though. Eleanor apologized for being rude.
I know we both had been rude.
Maybe I should get a grip on it.
I was absolutely crappy last Thurday. It was hard for me to accept that. I can get my head around things rationally but I have even more trouble than most people letting go of the little hurts. Maybe I was sorry I said it but Eleanor acted quite shamelessly. I noticed Eleanor behaved not very thoughtfully.
Ok, it is hard to remember. Now I know why Eleanor took it the wrong way and it wasn't very self-sacrificing.

Today at work

I'm not going to get a copy of the MFC for the complete team and have to reshedule for next week. I would not be able to make it back until Thurday. I heard from a colleague last week that our e-markets increased tremendously. The ZutFlow account has become profitable. We have to cut budget for the ZutFlow project.

I spent a lot of time last Tuesday trying to finish things on my to-do list. I am getting a new office PC. I could go home if I wanted to.
